Recovering progressive support group
A place to vent for anyone swamped with despair by creeping moonbattery. Previous post in this series here.FYI - Nationwide parties for Bush this Thursday evening. Take refuge from F911-inspired looniness by hanging with some Bush supporters. (I went to one of these events in April. A small Upper West Side apartment, 15 young professionals, beer, wine, popcorn, conversation. I was the oddity: a feminist pro-choice liberal voting for Bush, but they were friendly. They didn't know about blogs and I showed them Kesher Talk and the Dissident Frogman banners.)
Now to the support group, where we experience solidarity and renewed commitment by sharing our stories. Katherine, would you go first?
Sounds like that party created quite a lot of emotional trauma for you, Katherine. We feel your pain. Next? Blogaddict? Yes, it's difficult to respond to an old family dynamic in a new more mature way. You had a suggestion, Quark2?
Hmmm, yes, Blogaddict, it is very frustrating and painful when your family turns on you. Group, any more ideas for Blogaddict? Yes, Rayra? Grayp, what an excellent suggestion. I think we could all use more practice in practical polemics.
Deb, you sound very depressed. Anyone have some successes to share with Deb? Oh, blogaddict, what a hopeful story. And I see you are also making progress, Psychobarb. It's slow, I know.
Rob from the schlob, why don't you share with us your European perspective? It's really inspiring how you recovered from such massive brainwashing, especially given what you are facing.
Sorry, our time is almost up. Group, let's take a few minutes to close our eyes, breathe slowly, and repeat our affirmations, so we are calm and courageous when we leave. See you all next week.
