Should I say or should I go now?
As violence against Jews increases in Europe, Alisa asks the question. My family faced this same question in the late 1930s: my father (and his family) in Berlin, my mother (and her mother) in Vienna, and in the early 1930s, my uncle's wife-to-be and her family. All of them made the correct choice, which is why I am here today. But it is a difficult complicated wrenching choice.Judith | 11/18/04 at 02:15 PM | Categories: - Antisemitism watch

Judith, although I was mostly referring to anti-semitism in Europe, you probably know as well as I do that the US is not immune to it, either. So, when I talk about leaving in that context, I have only Israel in mind. Also, my point was not staying alive, or even staying well. My point was a principled approach.
Alisa.
