Aging irrelevant cool stuff: Pop culture

I'm cleaning out my "cool stuff" bookmarks, so some of this is old news. (Apologies if you saw it already or if you provided the original link and I can't remember who you were.)

This might be the cover project to end all cover projects: Recordings of every folk ballad collected by Francis Child. (Barbara Allen, Lord Randall, The Gypsy Laddie, and The Two Sisters seem to be the most popular.)

More pop culture from the past: The site for dime novels and "penny dreadfuls."

Pop culture run amok.

More pop culture run amok: "In the category of ads that would sell a shitload of product if they were only allowed to run, come these two creations from the DeBeers spoof room floor." Not safe for work.

Even more recent pop culture: If airlines start allowing cellphone use, this will come in handy.

The compleat Apple lifestyle. (I know I got this one from Gerard, who has his finger on the Silly-con Valley pulse.)
