The Dowd Uncertainty Principle
Some people ask if Maureen Dowd is necessary?
Others - like my occasional correspondent Alex Bensky - ask if Maureen Dowd exists:
Judith, haven't you caught on yet? There is no "Maureen Dowd;" the construct is just an elaborate joke played by the Times editorial board. That's why "MoDo" claims that Cindy Sheehan has "absolute moral authority" while many parents in her exact position, who disagree with her, don't.Could the uncertainty of her existence be yet another Immutable Law of Dowd?I will expand on this another time, but suffice it to say that my discovery that there is no Maureen Dowd ranks, I believe, with my breakthrough discovery of what I modestly call the Bensky Corollary to Everything. Meryl Yourish calls it the Exception Clause.
