Hanukkah: Sez kandelikas.
All Chanukkah entries can be found here.
Lighting a hanukkah menorah on Erev Shabbat.
Some menorah memories from Shai
Meryl has been lighting on her blog every evening.
My menorah is very similar in the brass/turquoise coating and general design, and has a similar Lion of Judah, but in a plastic insert that looks like mosaic. I wonder if they came from the same manufacturer. (I've had mine since I was about five - I have a photo of me and my little brother lighting ours in our first house in Dallas; I was going to post it but I can't find it right now.)
David Bogner and readers on the myriad delights of sufganiyot.
Lynn points out the symbolic connections between Hanukkah and Pesach: both are celebrations of freedom.
Some comparisons between the twelve days of Advent and the four weeks of Ellul and the eight days of Chanukkah. Specifically, the Torah verses read throughout Chanukkah, Numbers 7:1 - 7:89, in which the chieftains of the twelve tribes bring their offerings.
This year (tomorrow) Rosh Chodesh Tevet (the sixth day of Hanukkah) and Shabbat fall on the same day, so there will be readings from three (count 'em, three!) Torah scrolls, an unusual occurrence. It's kind of like when three planets line up in the sky. The four sections for Rosh Chodesh are read, and the regular Shabbat reading for that week.
