Big Apple dhimmitude
Another university has succumbed to Fear of a Jihadist Planet, right here in contentious multicultural New Yawk City. This time, it's NYU that has censored the viewing of the Dreaded Cartoons of Blasphemy (TM). But they aren't preventing the cartoons from being shown, they are just not allowing the general public into a panel discussion.
The rationale for this is not clear, but it looks like some tortured logic peculiar to university administrators is being applied.
[ Alcibiades adds: LGF now has a copy of the email that apparently led to NYU’s administration restricting the discussion and forbidding the public from gaining entry. ]

There is simply a point where tolerance and respect become fear. I'm all for tolerance and respect, but in this particular case it seems to me that the goal is to make sure that no one gets attacked. What other possible reason could they have to exclude the public. Do they think that those who want to have a rational discussion about the cartoons will assault pious moslems. Of course not. They are afraid that members of the religion of peace will bomb the place (figuaratively and perhaps literally).
