About Kesher Talk

  • "Kesher" means "connection" in Hebrew. The banner image is the mosaic floor of a 6th c. synagogue in Jericho, showing a menorah flanked by a shofar and lulav; the inscription reads "Shalom Al Yisrael." (This synagogue was destroyed by Arab vandals a few years ago. The condition of the mosaic floor is unknown.)

Fomenting Anarchy in the Apple Store

Today I visited the Apple Store on Prince St. in NYC, as I scout for software for my new (used from Craig's List, actually) PowerBook G4. What a jumping, lively place I found, bursting with Macs on full display -- even better, with Internet access.

Surrounded by Gotham hipsters and more than a few moonbats, I decided to foment some good-natured trouble. Call it "Operation Steal This Website." On various Macs I typed in the URLs of websites sure to get moonbat blood pressures skyrocketing, to wit:

www.littlegreenfootballs.com
www.jihadwatch.org
www.rightwingnuthouse.com

What fun I had as I moved aside and let unsuspecting shoppers enjoy websites they might never have seen before.

I urge my fellow KTers to take advantage of Apple's generous Web policy to form two- or three-person teams to infiltrate Apple stores and broaden the political awareness of fellow MacManiacs. I suggest a team approach so one person can type in the URL, another can watch and record reactions, and a third can drift by and comment when a shopper starts reading it, "What a freakin' awesome website you're reading there! You must be a Republican, right?"

Heh. I always do that too.

I tend to do that for my site as well. If you are really sneaky save it as a favourite or as default home page.

VW response: Rock on, Andrew! great idea.

That's hilarious! What a great idea!

You gotta give us a best-of-reactions post!

Jesus Fucking Christ, you people are lame as shit. Is it just a coincidence that 4/5 of the people in this greatest of cities are Democrats, not Republicans? Republicans are antithetical to culture. You are not wanted here, so stay out.
