Iran makes strange bedfellows
It's interesting to see certain national leaders who have reputations as appeasers react to Ahmadinejad's threats.
First Jacques Chirac reverses his earlier position:
President Jacques Chirac said Thursday that France was prepared to launch a nuclear strike against any country that sponsors a terrorist attack against French interests. He said his country's nuclear arsenal had been reconfigured to include the ability to make a tactical strike in retaliation for terrorism.
And now Shimon Peres gets tough:
Vice Premier Shimon Peres said Monday in an interview to Reuters that "the president of Iran should remember that Iran can also be wiped off the map," Army Radio reported. . . . . "Iran presents a danger to the entire world, not just to us," Peres added.
(Does this mean France and Israel are going to become allies of convenience again?)
[ Alcibiades add: Debka reports that the new deputy Mossad Chief, Ilan Mizrahi, "is a world class authority on Iran and expert on Muslim and Arab affairs...Selecting Mizrahi for the job signposts PM Olmert’s order of strategic priorities. ]

We shouldn't forget who developed Israel's nuclear program - the very same Shimon Peres. He knows what he's talking about.
