Geoffrey Chaucer still hath a blogge
Since I last linked to it, Geoffrey Chaucer's blog has been busy. The latest is a commission, in the manner of the Chuck Norris FAQ, "the whiche doth demaunde that ich wryte some small libell or brode-sheete yn prayse of Kyng Richarde contaynynge proofe of his vertu." To wit:
The voweles of the Englysshe tonge weren supposed to shifte yn 1377, but KYNG RICHARDE tolde them to staye the helle where they were.Etc etc. There is a return of the advice column.KYNG RICHARDE his touche kan cure scrofula. Too bad, then, that he shal nevir touch thee, churl!
Armor doth weare KYNG RICHARDE for proteccioun.
Geoffrey also gives us a sneak preview of his
‘romaunce thrillere’ – all of the actioune of a romaunce, but wyth sum puzzle solvynge and mysteriousness and sum thynge of an expose of the chirche. Ich do calle yt "The Ciphere of Leonardo." and ich thynke yt ‘has legges,’ as they saye.He takes on another genre with "STRAIGHT OVTTA LONDOUN," and shares some preliminary notes for the Canterbury Tales.
Geoffrey also gets spam, and I can't do justice to these in paraphrase or exerption, you have to read the whole thing. (And the comments, in which the "gentil rederes alle" explain spam to Master Chaucer, after which they fall to discussing soccer.)
