About Kesher Talk

  • "Kesher" means "connection" in Hebrew. The banner image is the mosaic floor of a 6th c. synagogue in Jericho, showing a menorah flanked by a shofar and lulav; the inscription reads "Shalom Al Yisrael." (This synagogue was destroyed by Arab vandals a few years ago. The condition of the mosaic floor is unknown.)

Pot. Kettle. Black. For Daily Kos.

This is the first blogosphere kerfluffle in a while on which I have an opinion. Here's my opinion:

What's funny about the Daily Kos diaries is that these guys constantly castigate Charles Johnson for LGF comments, saying he is responsible for them and should be policing his threads, even if he didn't write them. They call LGF racist based on the comments, even though as a rule they are milder than Kos's diaries and comments. (Yes, they are.)

In fact, when I have conversations with blog reading lefties, they always cite LGF as the primo racist political site which, if you link to it, you are branded as not credible, and without any redeeming social value whatsoever.

Now the shoe is on the other foot. The anti-Israel statements and comments at many Kos diaries does shade into outright antisemitism, and the few moderates cannot stem the tide.

They will accuse us of cherry-picking our quotes from Daily Kos. But that is exactly what they do when linking to examples of LGF racism.

So can we agree that if your blog gets hundred of comments a day, you can't be held responsible for all of them?

Comments

I disagree strongly that LGF is "racist." They may be anti-Muslim and anti-Arab, but Muslims and Arabs are not a separate race. Calling someone who disagrees with you a "racist" even though race is not a real issue is simply a way for the left to control the debate and reject ideas they disagree with.

Arabs are more closely related to Caucasian Scandanavians than they are the Negroid sub groups in Africa. One more bit of idiocy by liberals (and Muslims) who seek to piggyback their grievances on top of the legitimate concerns of blacks and Asians.

There may be racists among the commenters at LGF, but so what. There are racists everywhere. The point is that CJ is no racist.

If I compare what Johnson is poltically (a 'kennedy democrat') and compare that to others I come up with, gee whiz...

Victor Davis Hanson
Mort Kondracke
Me (though as lifelong dem until now I prefer HST and FDR as exemplars)

If I compare where Kos is, I come up with George Soros "america is a barrier to justice in the world", and Eric Foner, and Hobspawn, et al. His commenters are not racist, by comparison, they're genocidal historically factless delusional fantasists.

Joe Lieberman just doesn't belong with those people and neither do I

They're not racist. They just want to kill all arabs.

This is easily the stupidest comment I've ever come across.

"They're not racist. They just want to kill all arabs."

Daily Kos commenters aren't antisemitic, they just hold Israel to completely different standards than every other nation.

The point is, both blogs have huge comment threads which can't be policed, and the owner doesn't try. Both have extreme comments. Both groups cherry-pick each other's comments to hold up the worst examples as representative. Pot. Kettle. Black.

Actually Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler is the scary one.

While I dislike some of the Kos commentators the question is where do they stand on most issues as opposed to one or two. When it comes to choosing Kos or LGF I'll go with Kos.
