More snapshots from Israel
Heh. (This is the difference between the Clinton and Bush administrations.)
Shire Network News has a podcast with Egyptian blogger Sandmonkey and Isreallycool Dave.
Via Isreality: A tech blog praises the "life during wartime" attitude of Israeli high-tech firms. Also: "How quickly can I get into the bomb shelter?"
Sandmonkey and Allison are both experiencing deja vu about the last time Israel went into Beirut.
One the propaganda front:
AbbaGav has a huge post with many links about evaluating news stories. Daled Amos has more examples of bias. Sever Plocker anticipates more "Jenin Massacre syndrome" from reporters.
AbbaGav is proud of Israel's care for its own refugees and has some suggestions for donations, if you want to help. Allison says Israel is so good at taking care of refugees that they become invisible to world news.
Meanwhile, Israel is housing and feeding and treating the wounds of not only her own citizens but Lebanese refugees as well. Maybe this news story will get some play, ya think?
Apropos of my previous post in which Israeli bloggers recall their favorite fictional arguments for disproportionate force, here's a non-fictional one:
"You cannot be objective about an aerial torpedo. And the horror we feel of these things has led to this conclusion: if someone drops a bomb on your mother, go and drop two bombs on his mother. The only apparent alternatives are to smash dwelling houses to powder, blow out human entrails and burn holes in children with thermite, or to be enslaved by people who are more ready to do these things than you are yourself; as yet no one has suggested a practicable way out."—George Orwell, reviewing Arthur Koestler's Spanish Testament for the magazine Time and Tide, Feb. 5, 1938.
