Ellul 6: Aish Tamid
Teshuva contemplations every day until Yom Kippur here. You can also find the link on the sidebar under "Yamim Noraim." Rabbi Amy Scheinerman's guide to teshuvah focuses this week on Responsibility.
From Live at Stubbs, Matisyahu sings Aish Tamid.
The Aish website is such a cornucopia of useful things, yet Aish events are so . . . . geared to stuffy young yuppies. Anyway. You could do worse than print out this Growth Worksheet and carry it with you as a checklist for evaluating your behavior this month (or any month).
"The world stands on three things: On Torah, on the service [of God], and on acts of kindness." (Talmud - Avot 1:2)There are a number of questions for all three pillars.A chair or table needs at least three legs to stand on. In the spiritual world, this is true as well. Every human being has three primary relationships in life: with yourself, with God and with others. Success and balance is required in all three.
Rosh Hashana is the time for getting our lives in order, correcting our mistakes, and making a plan for the future. With that in mind, here's how these three pillars translate to our life today:
Torah = Pursuit of Wisdom
Service of God = Spiritual Connection
Kindness = Kindness
