About Kesher Talk

  • "Kesher" means "connection" in Hebrew. The banner image is the mosaic floor of a 6th c. synagogue in Jericho, showing a menorah flanked by a shofar and lulav; the inscription reads "Shalom Al Yisrael." (This synagogue was destroyed by Arab vandals a few years ago. The condition of the mosaic floor is unknown.)

The Politics of Earring Shopping

I was just looking at some earrings at Amazon, and checked out the reviews of one I liked to see if anyone had written about quality, and this is what I found:

I was ready to purchase these earrings but when I viewed the page I saw:

Customers who bought this item also bought
Godless: The Church of Liberalism by Ann Coulter
Average Customer Rating:
Buy new : $27.95 Price: $16.77

I cannot in good conscious wear earrings that other people bought along with Ann Coulter's hateful, insulting, biased, ignorant BS

I don't think it's satire...

I mean this seriously when I say that some of my best friends are liberals. If you have Jewish friends, you just can't avoid the odds. With my friends, unlike so many liberals I've encountered, we can tactfully avoid contentious political issues ...... [Read More]

This is one of the greatest examples of American liberal thinking I've seen. (Even without the "conscious" malapropism.)

LOL! No way.

I've read most of Ann Coulter's books, not because I necessarily agree with her or appreciate her abrasive style, but because it's rather irresponsible to discuss a well known politico without actually reading said pundit's books. And since Ann Coulter gets discussed a lot, I try to read her books so that I know what people are talking about (and when they are totally making stuff up, as well). How does the disgusted, would-be earing purchaser know that her desired earings weren't purchased by someone like me, who was just reading Ann Coulter's books to stay on top of things (or perhaps by someone who is also a raving liberal and is only purchasing the book to write his or her masters thesis on why Ann Coulter is the devil)?

You sure you wouldn't have second thoughts if it were some Michael Moore/truther video instead?

Someone:

For earrings?

Like Atilla, above, many of my closest friends are liberals. I live in NYC. I'm sure many of the clothes and other things I buy are bought by Michael Moore worshipping types. I don't think I have ever given it a moment's thought.
