Ceremony at Police Memorial in Battery Park City
I received the following message from a 9/11 Neocons member and I thought I'd pass it on to some New Yorkers....
There will be a ceremony at the police memorial in Battery Park City on October 13. The names of 100+ police officers who fell in the line of duty will be added to this memorial. These are the "Forgotten 100"--peace officers whose sacrifice was overlooked for whatever reason over the years, and never made it to the current memorials until recently.
They inlcude Patrolman Peter McIntyre who died as a result of injuries sustained during the Draft Riots in 1863 and Patrolman Christian L. Kirkegard who died in 1929 as a result of injuries sustained while guarding gas trucks during a drivers' strike. And my great-grandfather, Detective John Sheridan, who was killed in 1902 as he attempted to arrest a gang of burglars.
I can't be there, but I am hoping some New Yorkers might wander down there during the ceremony and take some pictures. I'd really appreciate it!
(I don't have the time, but my guess is about 10:00 am--the NYPD seems to like 10:00 am.)
Thanks!
Loretta
I can' t seem to locate any information online about this ceremony, but click here for directions to the police memorial. And if anyone does take pictures, please post a link here in the comments section or send them to cinnamon@cinnamonstillwell.com. Thanks!
