A Relevant Blog for Another Birthday
I had another birthday a few weeks ago, no. 49, and for the first time I feel within striking distance of 63, the age at which my mother died. That's 14 years. The question that arises in my mind: Now what?
Today I found a highly relevant blog called "Time Goes By: What It's Really Like to Get Older," by Ronni Bennett, a journalist born in 1941. She writes,
Three years of blogging about aging has only proved to me how much more there is to know. I find getting older to be fascinating and even mysterious. I’ve never been this old before and I want to know a lot more about it.
The site home page is very striking, with a banner of 10 photos showing Bennett from toddler to her current age. The site has a thought-provoking entry about movies with elder themes, well worth reading.
I'll keep looking at Times Goes By as time goes by for the next critical 14 years. And after that, I've got other milestones in mind.

Next 14 years, Van????? Good grief, I'll be 79 then and I'm not at all sure I have that much to say about getting old to keep TGB going that long. I wonder what blogging will be like in 2020? Or if it will even still be here...
Thank you for the mention and the link.

Don't worry, you can live longer than your parents. I'm 61, 23 years older than my parents were when they died. 80 seems to be the age when age catches up to people. Many become shaky and illness prone at about that age.
