Didn't they just! I recommend the excellent Richard Thompson retrospective RT, by the way. Among hundreds of gems it contains a terrific performance of "Outside of the Inside", his response (and let's remember he's a Muslim) to narrow-minded extremism from whatever source. According to the accompanying booklet he played it in 2005 to an audience in Battery Park, NY, introducing it with "Any members of al-Qaida in the audience? Well, this one's just for you."

I have it. I also have the Martin Carthy one. I even have the Peter Bellamy posthumous complilation on Free Reed. I haven't gotten the Watersons box set yet, I am waiting for a good deal on Amazon. I've been listening to all those guys since I was in college, and you know how old I am, Rob. :-)
It would be interesting to have both Thompson and the former Cat Stevens on the same talk show to talk about Islam. I get the feeling Thompson is lapsed, but I don't know....
