The Media as Theater of War Conference: shmoozing

MTWlbanner.jpg

Hertzliya, Israel, December 17-18, 2006.

All my posts about the conference are collected here, also links to other blogs writing about the conference.

UPDATE:
PJpeople.jpg

A gaggle of Pajamas Media bloggers, lined up against the wall and shot by Idan (with requested post-production anonymizing by me), during one of the social hours: Richard Fernandez, Nidra Poller, Aussie Dave, me, Michael Totten, Allison Kaplan-Sommer

UPDATE: Excellent travelogue from Solomonia. I was around for everything but the trips to the Old City and the cab to Herzliya, and he describes it all very well, so I don't have to.

A few personal impressions from the conference:

At these things most of the good stuff happens over food and drink, with most of the panels a necessary chore (and a few of them worth the trip). Michael Totten and Mary Madigan are old friends and always stimulating to talk to. I would have liked to spend more time with Nidra Poller, Stephanie Guttman, Allison Sommer, Lisa Goldman, Savtadotty, Lee Smith, Benjamin Kerstein, and Martin Solomon (but I might hook up with more of the Israeli bloggers later in my trip). Also I hope to spend more time with Anna Geifman in Tsfat next week. I am talking a lot about the issues of the conference with Richard Landes, which is very enjoyable and purposeful at the same time. Richard and his wife Esther have also been very generous Shabbat hosts.

I also hope to connect with some other Israeli bloggers who weren't at the conference, especially David and "Jameel."

Pix and vid to follow . . . .
