More home movies from Israel

The other thing I like about Video Egg is that the video goes live as soon as you post the code, no waitng for it to "process" and get approved. The upload process itself takes a few minutes, but still much faster than YouTube, and you can see it progressing frame by frame, whereas in YouTube you don't get any uploading feedback beyond the spinning icon. What I don't like: their max length is 5 min (You Tube is 10 min) and the only Mac browser you can upload from is Safari.

Since I already posted photos of Mitzpeh Ramon and the ibex, here's more of that scenery. No soundtrack, since it was just wind and my stentorian breathing. (Remember, this is from a digital still camera, not a video camera.)

Like my panorama of Akko Harbor, the video below has a fun soundtrack.

I learned from my Frommer Guidebook that for a few bucks (if you are not a guest) you can go up to the roof of the Petra Hotel, which is just inside Jaffa Gate, in the Old City in Jerusalem. It's about 5 floors up and you get a great panoramic view of Old City rooftops. As I was up there the carillon of a church started ringing noon.

Tech details: First I exported the .avi file (from my camera) to a mov. file (using Quicktime Pro) so I could tweak the contrast and brightness a bit, then exported that to a .m4v file to reduce the file size. Then uploaded it to Video Egg and pasted the html in here. Total elapsed time: about 10 min. (I know I can do much more with fancier software, but the only cost here is QuickTime Pro, which I got a license for on eBay for $20.)

Yo, Charles! Where you hanging your hat these days? Are you going to be in NYC anytime soon?
