Argument for the sake of Heaven
Two machers of the 20-something New York hipster Jewish cohort square off on the topic of Judaism and "social justice": Steven I Weiss (impresario of Campus-J, blogger of Canonist, founder of seminal Jewish group blog Protocols) and Dan Sieradski aka Mobius (impresario of Jewschool, Corner Prophets, Matzat, and related ventures). Dan says Judaism supports "social justice values." Steven says Dan reads into Judaism whatever he wants to justify his political beliefs. Steven and Daniel are both very opinionated and educated, and the whole exchange is worth reading.

RELATED: Previous blog debate between another macher of the hipster alternative Judaism crowd, Ariel Beery, and eminence grise of "new media studies" and gadfly to Jewish institutions Douglas Rushkoff.
Steven Weiss and fellow bloggers at Protocols critiqued Rushkoff's book Nothing Sacred, pointing out all his errors of fact, among other things. To read those posts scroll down the right side of the Protocols main page to "Book Discussions." (Kesher Talk severely criticized Rushkoff several years ago, and if our previous site were still up you could read those posts.)
