The Unimagined Milestone
February 1, 2007: The mainstream media today failed to mourn the non-tragic milestone of the 100,000th American who has not perished in terrorist attacks against the United States due to an aggressive War on Terror.
In December the press went all out to mark when deaths of U.S. troops in Iraq passed the total killed on 9-11 and then the 3,000 death mark at the end of the year. However, the mainstream media has shown itself reluctant to project the possible lives saved due to the war in Iraq and the broader War on Terror.
However, sources have calculated that, without a far-ranging War on Terror, terror attacks against Los Angeles, the Sears Tower in Chicago, the Super Bowl, New Year's Eve in Times Square, the opening of Congress, the Houston Ship Channel, and San Francisco through dirty bombs, chemical attacks, subway explosions, and machine-gun attacks on mall food courts, the US death toll would have reached 100,000 in January 2007, following the massive explosions in New York on December 31, which by now would have accounted for 10,000 deaths.
Spokesmen for the mainstream media called the calculation "a non-story."

An award was recently given to a group of neuroscientists who presented a brain structural basis for our human ability to 'mirror,' that is mentally to take in a stranger. One of our Psychiatry Grand Rounds presenters at UT Southwestern has said that this is the basis for our being able to go beyond living just in family groups like apes or wolves. My admiration for Judaism is that it reified the idea of our commonality. The American success of that commonality was shown last night when Ian Johnson, an Afro-American in the comedian's phrase, proposed to the white cheerleader after hoasting Oklahoma football on its own petard on national TV. As Americans we have, in the process of uplifting previoulsy humiliated groups, bought somewhat into favoring any rebel tribe which ends up actually taking us into tribalism. That George Bush does not buy into that tribalism puts him in Orwellian speak into an inversion of truth category, BushHitler, which inversions characterize those who prefer to dwell in Orwell's ironic land, a land which would have a natural Weltanschauung distance from Judaism and realization of the dangers of tribalism.
