Yemenite Jews flee their homes following threats by extremists
Some 45 Jews of Sa'ada county in Yemen left their homes after being threatened by radical Muslims, the Saudi daily Al Wattan reported on Monday.I hadn't realized that there were any Jews still living in Yemen, but apparently there are a few hundred still, who are made to pay special dhimmi taxes to the government for protection.According to the report, the extremists told the Jews to leave their homes within ten days, after which time they will be exposed to abductions and looting.
They blame their strife on the oblivious Yemenite government, which refuses to offer them assistance. The Jewish community, say its members, does not have efficient communication channels with the regime that would allow it to influence its actions.The Jews under threat contacted local authorities and demanded fair treatment as ordinary Yemenite citizens. They told the authorities among other things that Islam imposes taxes on Jews in return for protection and security.

I thought the Yemenite Jews were the remnant of those who knew martial arts, were warriors... Couldn't Israel supply them with some weapons and they develop some intelligence to threaten their attackers until a staus quo ante obtained?

Well you'd think they'd do something like that. But these ones seem intent on whining that they are Yemenite citizens, and the Yemenite government should protect them against the jihadists.
Not a proposition I'd want to bet my life on.
