Our Heroux
Ben, occasional Kesher Talk contributer, writes:
As we all must have heard by now, the almost non-existant little Quebec town of Herouxville has had the audacity to publish a list of what it expects out of immigrants (if it had any) which includes a ban on the stoning and burning of women.
Naturally the usual suspects are up in arms.
I am reminded of an old joke: When a reporter finds out that politicians were among those nabbed in a police raid on a brothel, the headline reads: "Police Raid Brothel, Many Lawmakers Arrested". Naturally the local politicians complain- this makes them all look bad, only a few were involved, please retract the article. So the next day the corrected headline reads: Police Raid Brothel, Many Lawmakers NOT
Arrested.
In that spirit, may I suggest that the town of Herouxville make amends by admitting that the prohibition against the burning and stoning of women is insulting to Moslems, and declare that yes, if it means so much to them, in the spirit of tolerance, Herouxville will NOT prohibit these things.

Given the lack of humor of these folks, I would not recommend saying you're not prohibiting these things. You might be taken literally.
