The mystery of the Plaid Martini
For several years my blogging partner-in-crime Mary has been in search of a possibly apocryphal libation called a "plaid martini." She and I have accosted countless bartenders in vain, even deeply experienced and scholarly mixologists like those at Park Blue, who pride themselves on their encyclopedic knowledge of booze. The Park Blue bartender had never heard of a plaid martini. So we gave up.
But even though we be internet-marinated bloggers, we did not google. Or we would have found out that a plaid martini is composed of Stoli Raspberry, Midori, and Chambord.
Pardon me, but yuck. Do you really want one now?

Thanks for the recipe - it sounds strange, but it could work. I'll have to try it the next time we're in the company of experienced and scholarly mixologists.

A Martini consists of Gin and Vermouth. Any thing else is something else. A drink with Stoli Raspberry, Midori, and Chambord is a fruity mess, not a martini.

I agree, Robert. I don't get the point of vodka martinis. Vodka doesn't taste like anything. Gin does.
Me, I like Negronis.

If the vodka is decent export strength stuff it has a taste (best I've had so far was a 50% Smirnoff Blue Label), but then again if it's got a taste you're better off drinking it neat and frozen. I have been know to turn some into a vodka martini, but I agree gin works better. I'm more of a Manhattan drinker anyway....
