About Kesher Talk

  • "Kesher" means "connection" in Hebrew. The banner image is the mosaic floor of a 6th c. synagogue in Jericho, showing a menorah flanked by a shofar and lulav; the inscription reads "Shalom Al Yisrael." (This synagogue was destroyed by Arab vandals a few years ago. The condition of the mosaic floor is unknown.)

Age of Consent

Browsing links related to Cathy Siepp's unfortunate passing, I found myself at Luke Ford's blog, where I had not been for several years, I think. Luke is reknown for being provocative, especially toward persons and institutions with which he has affiliated himself.

So Luke appreciates another provocateur, in this case an unintentional one, Rabbi Michael Broyde, who gave a talk about halachic rulings, one of which got the audience, particularly the women, very upset.
