Lufthansa's got my back
I'm sitting in the lounge at Ben Gurion Airport, waiting to check in at 3 AM for my 5 AM flight to the US. Which connects through Frankfort. So I really don't need this:
As many as five or six U.S. air marshals are now assigned to each U.S.-bound flight from airports in Frankfurt, London and Manchester, England, because of fears terrorists might attempt a coordinated series of mid-air explosions . . . "We're afraid someone in the back is going to mix something or light something up, so air marshals are being placed strategically through the plane," said one senior law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the stepped-up security.. . . . U.S. officials said Germany law enforcement is providing full coverage of flights by Lufthansa and other German-based carriers flying into the United States. "They are stretched so thin they've had to rely on German military officers to help out," one U.S. official said.
Great.
"The intelligence was that there are plans to take a plane and crash it in a high-density, high-profile place," one official told ABCNews.com . . . . The U.S. Embassy in Berlin posted a warning that U.S. citizens should be vigilant because of a "heightened terror threat."
I guess I should feel safer with all those marshalls/military on board, as opposed to boarding in blessed ignorance and being surprised. I guess.
If something funny happens on my flight, I'll blog it of course. If I make it to JFK.

This would be like the mythical plot to blow up airliners with liquid explosives which John Reid (British Home Secretary) was so excited about, and for which not a single piece of evidence has ever been produced? Give me a break.
You're right, you don't need this. And neither does anyone else.
Personally, I'd be a damned sight more worried by the presence on my flight of an unspecified number of paranoids with concealed weapons than by a terrorist threat exaggerated beyond reason for domestic political purposes.
Hope you didn't get shot by an "air marshal" who couldn't tell Hebrew from Arabic.
Or like the mythical 767s flown into the World Trade center or the mythical Muslim Brit with explosives in his shoes. or the mythical subway bombs in London. If you refuse to look at it maybe it will go away.
Your last line is indicative of how hard you're straining right now.

Not straining at all, Judith. People have been thrown off planes in Europe simply for speaking what was though to be Arabic (actually it was Urdu).
You, on the other hand, are working really hard to try to pretend that because I'm not taken in by a totally imaginary plot created to distract attention domestically I must therefore deny the reality of 9-11 etc. And presumably then if I criticise Israeli policy in the OT I must be guilty of Holocaust denial? Grow up.

Or if you prefer, this is a similar example of the kind of paranoia you do so much to encourage.
And re non sequiturs and putting words in your mouth, I suppose your suggestions above that I believe 9/11, 7/7 and the shoe bomber to be "mythical" can be backed up with appropriate citations? Feel free to comb the Kesher Talk comments, and my own blog, to find these gems. But please, do publish them, because my denial of these well-known events is clearly deserving of the maximum exposure.
Or else admit you're a liar and a hypocrite. That might be quicker.
