Must-read section: "The Rebbe on Sports and Games." Sandy Koufax is there.

"The Lubavitcher Rebbe died 13 years ago yesterday."
And he is still dead. He will remain that way for the foreseeable future.
In other late breaking news Shabbti Tzvi is still dead too.

A year or so before he died there was a rumor that he was going to declare himself the moshiach. A non-Jewish friend of mine called to ask what I knew about this.
"Well," I told her, "the Rebbe has said that the messiah will come when all Jews observe the Sabbath and one of us going to the ball game Friday night."
Which is a segue into the Rebbe's comment on baseball, and I must make a point on my father's behalf. My dad is 91 and if you ask him what his favorite baseball team is, he'll tell you with sad pride, "The New York Giants."
The Rebbe asked the youngster if his favorite team was the Yankees or the Dodgers. I wonder if it's significant that he omittedmention of the third team in New York at that time. However, I hope if the kid had said, "The Yankees," the Rebbe would have swatted him and told him not to return until he was no longer in league, as it were, with evil.
