Hamas, Hartley and the Hedgehog

Are you as sick of reading about Hamas as I am sick of writing about the group? Sure you are. You're a sophisticated adult with a range of interests. You're ready to enjoy morning sunshine with two Jews (degree of observance variable) special enough to strike fear in the hearts of Hamas' life-denying legions.

It's OK to be honest that you'd rather catch up on the magical worlds of Nina Hartley and Ron "the Hedghog" Jeremy. [Note: best not to look at any of these links at work] Nina's website blog, in a June 20 entry, says,

Whew! What a fun weekend I just had! On Thursday I went to Indian Wells, CA.

That's about all I care to quote, but Indian Wells sounds like a happening place, I must say.

This article gives background on Hartley and her Jewish, communist, and Buddhist influences.

What's up with the Hedgehog, a nickname derived from his squat, hairy physique?

The 54-year old former schoolteacher did an-instore appearance a few weeks ago that got this insightful blog posting. And HarperCollins published his autobiography, Ron Jeremy: The Hardest (Working) Man in Showbiz. Jeremy's HarperCollins bio says,

Ron Jeremy is an internationally acclaimed actor, stand-up comedian, classically trained pianist, accred-ited special education teacher, and renowned college lecturer. In his spare time, he's also starred in roughly two thousand adult films, including award-winning performances in Suzie Superstar and All the Way In! He lives in California.

With credentials like that, the Hedgehog should definitely be on Jdate. From everything I've read, he's unattached.

Judith, do you know this guy Van - is everything right with his head?

More to the point - where IS Judith? and Alcibiades? and even, G_d help us, Cinnamon and Benjamin? Have Van and Asher staged a coup? Judith writes a post saying she's back now and everything's OK, then vanishes. Creepy. Not that KT is ever likely to become boring in Van's hands, but it becomes a little less varied.

Indian Wells is a pretty nice place.

I knew Ronny Jeremy early in his career. He was a gentle and funny guy, though kinda cheap. Once a date he took me to a Times Square theater where one of his movies were playing. Another time we went to a swing club where as a professional courtesy he was comp'd in. We had some s*x and giggles in that swing club's sauna, which, ironically enough, was across the street from an FBI field office in the east 50's of Manhattan. Oops, if he reads this and remembers he may know who I am.

At any rate, Ronny never really wanted to be attached, and now it may not be possible, the years have not been kind...Still, his warmth and sweetness as a human being make me smile even today.

And me, I found religion and conservative values brought stability, wisdom and joy. My time with "The Hedgehog," Ronny Jeremy provided some fond memories of my youth.
