On the Mall with A.N.S.W.E.R. and Friends

Scenes from the protests today, courtesy of the WaPo, which is estimating about 7000 attendees by 3 PM.

As a man walked by carrying a sign saying "9-11 Truth Now" a man on the corner asked, "I'm just wondering, what is the truth about 9-11?"

"We haven't been told the truth," the sign-man said. "That's the point."

The onlooker wasn't satisfied. "But what is the truth we haven't been told?" he asked again.

"That's it," came the reply. "We don't know because they won't tell us."

At 15th St. and New York Ave. a band of plaid-wearing demonstrators, most of them with bandanas over their faces, held an impromptu meeting to plan their confrontation with D.C. police.

"Is it OK with you guys if I go over to the cops and tell them we're going to cross the street?" one demonstrator asked his collegues.

Winning their assent, the young man approached a D.C. officer and said, "Are you guys going to slam and beat us if we cross the street?"

"Why don't you just cross with the light, then we don't have to bring in officers to block traffic," said Officer S. Weinfeld.

The demonstrator, foiled in his hope for a confrontation, said "Umm...ok," returned to his friends and walked them uneventfully across 15th St.

Non-sequitor of the day:

Malik Rahim, founder of Common Ground Collective, a hurricane-relief group in New Orleans, said: "In 1963 on this day, Sept. 15, was the Birmingham bombing. Four little girls in a house of worship were tragically killed. It's time for the people of this nation to take it back. Tell those who caused this heartache and injustice, 'No more. Let's stand for peace.'"

If this was a message to the jihadis and resurgents and Iranian provocateurs, from the people of Anbar, it would make sense. But you know that's not what he means.

Unlike the young, activist crowd that assembled early in the day, the overall mix of people as the march moves through the city is a better blend of families and people of all ages.

It is an overwhelmingly white crowd, given to chants and songs such as "Give Peace A Chance." As the crowd passes the John A. Wilson Building, they have spread across the avenue, holding signs such as "Liars, Murderers and Thieves," "Save Iraqi Lives," and "Save Iraq - Impeach AIPAC."

"Save Iraq - Impeach AIPAC." Another non-sequitor. but this is A.N.S.W.E.R. we're talking about.

Although many of the marchers joining the anti-war rally today may not know it, A.N.S.W.E.R. considers this a demonstration against the war in Iraq and against what it calls "Israel's brutal repression of the Palestinian people." Today's event, organizers say, is meant to show solidarity with Palestinians and to oppose "the Israeli state's profoundly racist character."

This is most likely the result of the fact that the Muslim American Society's Freedom Foundation has been working hand in hand with International ANSWER for years.

The Muslim American Society (MAS) is the front for the American branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.

While most people believe that the MAS/Muslim Brotherhood is just an Islamist organization that hopes to install Sharia law in America, the MAS/Muslim Brotherhood also manages (in many offshore accounts) the billions of petrodollars that are used to fund the al Qaeda charity network.

The MAS 'Freedom Foundation's deep pockets are paying for a lot of pro-Palestinian paper mache puppets.

People who support ANYTHING this White House does in Iraq are kinda like people who don't believe in Global Warming NO MATTER WHAT THE EVIDENCE...

Luckily, a majority of Americans are not as hard-headed as you people here at KT.

You won't win this war of ideas.

But I encourage you to keep fighting until *your* bitter end.

Long live democracy in the US of A!

Luckily, a majority of Americans think ANSWER and their ilk are lunatics.

It's kind of nice to see the Muslim Brotherhood throwing their money away like that.

Funny that our "soft headed" correspondent Jeff Solis brings up "global warming", a term that is already giving way to "climate change". Last week, a retired Canadian civil servant who led the charge to get rid of a whole bunch of ozone-threatening substances like CFCs and organized the conference that produced the Montreal Protocol (that led to the international ban) was being feted for his many career achievements on CBC Radio. He dismissed global warming as being based on bad science.

People who make blanket statements are often left on unstable ground. Or maybe it is unstable people in desperate need of blankets. I dunno. All I know is that there is a dearth of logic in someone's argument. There name rhymes with Hef.

I found it refreshing, for the first 11/9 since 2001, to be able this year to read an entire serious British newpaper and find not a single reference to the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Funnily enough, 11/09/2001 didn't change the world, and nobody over here cares about it any more (unless they had relatives or friends in the buildings).
