A remembrance of September 11th
My friend "Brazilian Neocon" writes:
This morning I intentionally woke up early in order to follow all the coverage of the comemorations of the sixth anniversary of 9/11.
Then approximately half and hour before the first plane hit, Fox News showed a beautiful recap of the events on that sad day. Diferently from any other station, they made a point of, yes, showing what others refuse to show - people jumping from the WTC. I know many here criticize the MSM for refusing to show that, in a PC attempt to increasingly water down the horror of that day.
Many here know how that day was important to me too, thousands of miles away. Shortly, I had a flight scheduled to Japan through America that day, and I was on my way out when a relative called and told me to turn on the TV. As I turned on the TV set, the second plane hit the WTC, live. Six days later I got to fly (through Dallas) and saw how it felt in America, a few days after the fact. Arriving in Japan, I met people who lost friends that day. That made me get interested in terrorism and from that day on I started studying all I could, reading all the books I got my hands on.
All those efforts payed off - now I do work directly in counterterrorism in my country's government, and I am on my way to get an advanced degree on Islam and the Middle-East, so that I can do my work more efficiently (and eventually, four ou five years from now, move to America - legally! - so that I can work on the area with a greater impact).
So, I thank the folks at Fox for not cowering behind political correctness and showing the full extent of the horror that swept us all that day.
P.S. They said that they will not show again the planes hitting today, as a show of respect. They made a point of showing the whole thing once, and that's all.
