Home for Hanukkah with Ron and Ellen
Ah, it's Hanukkah, Judaism's wonderful cold-weather holiday, with a nip in the air to make the candles burn even more brlightly. What better time for couples to share their mutual affection and love than now, to see their pasts and happy futures reflecting in the dancing flames?
America's favorite Jewish couple, Ellen Barkin and Ron Perelman, might be thinking those very thoughts these days, as they come together once more to talk about their powerful emotions for each other. While they are, alas, divorced, I am sure they still have a deep bond of caring.
Latest evidence: they're exchanging papers this Hanukkah. Oh, technically they're legal papers, as Ron is suing his blushing ex-bride over a business deal gone bad, as People magazine notes,
Representatives for Ellen Barkin hit back Thursday at her ex-husband Ronald Perelman, calling his newly filed lawsuit against the actress and her brother "frivolous" and "without merit."Perelman, 64, the Revlon mogul, has sued Ellen and George Barkin, claiming they are siphoning off funds from a production company the three started in 2005. A rep for the company, Applehead I, said Thursday that Perelman's "cynical abuse of the legal system is disappointing, but not surprising."
But between two people who are plainly still in love, like I am sure Ron and Ellen are, what's a little legal maneuvering? In their rarified circles, that's a sign of affection.
Meanwhile, Ellen, Kesher Talk's favorite Jewish single mom and love goddess, has yet to contact me as the next logical bald Jewish guy in her life, but hope springs eternal in this happy Hanukkah season.
