Hillary, Bill and Chelsea Let Their "Hair" Down
Dashed though her presidential hopes may be (for now), Hillary Clinton has bounced back nicely, judging from her jolly appearance Sunday night at the free performance of "Hair" in Central Park's Delacorte Theater. I was in the audience with friends, settling in for the 8 pm showing, when a wave of excitement stirred the crowd below me.
A celebrity sighting, I thought, immediately thinking of people like Ed Koch and Mike Tyson (instant evidence that I'm still stuck in my 1980s New York experience). The pandemonium rose even higher when everybody realized the excitement came from Hillary along with a certain tall, silver-haired man in a yellow golf shirt and a younger woman. Yes, it was Bill Clinton and Chelsea, and Hillary, the whole family and Secret Service entourage in the middle of an adoring crowd.
Bill looked relaxed, Hillary greeted well-wishers who jostled to get close to her, and the whole evening took on an air of midsummer night's dreams. Once the play started, one of the performers ran into the stands and improvised, "My mother's here!" and kissed Hillary.
Freed from the chores of running for President, Hillary & Family can kick back, relax, catch some shows, and enjoy life. I'll always remember the night we enjoyed life and "Hair" together.
